2017 Summer Newsletter

As the temperatures keep rising, there is no confusion that summer has arrived in Texas. The months encourage great growth and are some of the most important of the year when it comes to your lawns. We encourage visiting some of the topics below with our staff and technicians, to make sure your lawn is covered. Here are some tips worth visiting:

·         Is your watering and irrigation set up on a proper schedule? We recommend watering early morning. This allows your lawn to absorb moisture without the worry of too much evaporation. It is always wise to have your lawn receive 1” of water every week. Please always keep in mind your local city ordinances, such as water restrictions.

·         Irrigation systems are a vital tool through these months, as the proper set up can both save you time and assist your lawn in maintaining proper watering levels. Have you had your system inspected or are you currently experiencing issues? Advance Landscape Designs is staffed with experienced technicians ready to assist you in assuring that your system is good to go for the summer heat. Call us at (512)918-8009 to schedule a visit

·         August is a great month to revisit your fertilization application. Along with proper watering, fertilization can help make your lawn strong and resistant to many of the issues that ails neglected lawns. At Advance Landscape Designs, we like to schedule these applications throughout the year to keep a consistent presence and encourage growth throughout the year – are you set up?

·         It is good to remember to mulch and turnover your beds during the next months to help maintain the health of any plants in danger of becoming dehydrated during these hot summer months. A layer of mulch will help prevent the germination of weeds to keep them from growing, help moderate the soil temperature and retain moisture during dry weather, reducing the need for watering. For any mulching needs, please contact Advance Landscape Designs to see how we can be of assistance.

Advance Landscape Designs works diligently throughout the course of the months before and after summer, to make sure your lawns and landscape are always at their best! And we are always ready to assist you with any needs if your lawn is in need of added attention and applications.

2016 Spring Newsletter from Advance Landscape Design

With the warm and wet weather looming, though still experiencing some cold flashes, it must mean-March is here! Advance Landscape Designs is pleased to share with you our hints and tips for the coming months of spring. Take a look and see what we have for you:

·         As we’ve previously mentioned, spring is considered a transitional period. As such it is good to consider and refocus on the watering habits of our lawn. It is a vital period of the year in which how we treat and prepare our lawns will determine their look throughout the much warmer summer month. As a general rule, it is advised to supplement an inch of water to the lawn on a weekly basis. Of course, it is important to always check current weather conditions and to refer to your local water restrictions, if any. Further, as we are considering the subject, it is good to note that overwatering can lead to disease and shallow rooted plants. If you have a watering system throughout your lawn now would be the time to get it checked out by our licensed technicians. Give us a call at (512)918-8009 to speak to one of our representative and have one of our techs come out to your property.

·         As seasons begin to change so do the aesthetics we wish to provide with our lawn. Consider the season and perennial flowers, as well as mulch – which both can add a fantastic result to your lawn. Flowers and plants such as: Lantana, Esperanza, Globe Amaranth, Mint Marigold, among many others, add a welcoming spring color to any lawn (while remaining heat and drought tolerant - perfect for a Texas lawn!). Mulch equally adds the same desired aesthetics while adding protection to a healthy lawn and its beds. Interested in changing your lawn’s looks for the comings months? Advance Landscape Designs has 25 years of experience and well educated staff to install and maintain these beautiful applications – call us at (512)918-8009 and see what wonderful things we can accomplish for you!

·         [From our previous newsletter] Often not talked about, but entirely necessary, is the subject of 'aeration'. Aeration is the process in which compacted soil is loosened up; this allows air, moisture and nutrients to reach your lawn’s roots easily. How would you know if your soil is heavily compacted? You can conduct a small test yourself with a simple garden fork: If the soil does not allow for more than 2 inches to be penetrated, then it is time to speak with your lawn service representative about aeration. Call us for more information.

·         Fertilization is as well an important process that is necessary during this time of the year. Seasonal fertilization promotes new leaf and root growth which can aid in pest damage, controlling and reducing weed growth.  Fertilization also helps replaces any lost nutrients to leeching. As always, our lawn technicians are well versed on the matter and are more than happy to assist you in this process.

As we approach spring, now is the time to consider the changes we want for our lawns – and with 25 years of experience, Advance Landscape Designs is the call to make. Our experienced staff is ready to assist and resolve any of your lawn goals and troubles. Give us a call at (512)918-8009 and talk to one of our representatives regarding these matters.

And as always, thank you for allowing Advance Landscape Designs to provide you with the services that provide your lawn with a healthy look.

2016 Winter Newsletter

2016 has arrived and we at Advance Landscape Designs would like to thank you for your continued show of confidence in the services we are able to provide to you for your home and lawn. At this time we are introducing our year opening newsletter. Within it you will find some helpful and enlightening tips that will assist in maintaining a proper and healthy lawn throughout the winter months.

•    It is of no surprise that the fall and winter seasons see a large amount of leaves throughout our Texas lawns. It is important to be mindful of this and be diligent of their removal to prevent fungal growth and turf decay. [From our previous newsletter]

•    As the leaves fall and with winter in full effect, there is no more opportune time to pay attention to the necessary maintenance of our trees and shrubs throughout our lawn with some standard pruning and trimming. With branches fully exposed we are able to see any potential rot, disease or damage. Our lawn technicians have years of experience in this field and are prepared to assist you in order to better prepare for the coming seasons of growth.

•    Mulching always adds an aesthetically pleasing element to your lawn. Mulch is also important this time of year due to the weather change and the temperature drop. A three to four inch layer of mulch helps maintain soil temperature. Lack of winter mulch can lead to the death of many perennials and small shrubs as the roots are exposed to the freezing air. Be sure to contact us at (512)918-8009 to discuss mulch application throughout your lawn beds with one of our representatives. [From our previous newsletter]

•    Winter is also a good time to consider the transplanting or planting of shrubs and trees. There may be a few that have perhaps struggled in the previous seasons and are in need of sun, shade and or better drainage. Whatever the case may be, we here at Advance Landscape Design are more than happy to assist in the project.

Overall, winter is a great season to think or rethink our lawns and apply the necessary upkeep and changes needed to achieve a thriving lawn. With over 25 years of experience, we at Advance Landscape Designs are more than capable and happy to assist you in achieving these goals. Call us at (512)918-8009 to discuss your lawn’s potential and what in all we can do for you.

2015 Late Summer/Early Fall Advice from Advance Landscape Designs

September is upon us! The kids are back in school and though we are still enduring some of the Texas heat, subject to what people are calling a “flash drought” – it is important to go over what you can do to keep your lawn healthy. Here are some tips!

•    During the month of September many begin planting their trees and shrubs for the fall and winter season. Planting in early autumn allows them time to root in preparation for the next summer. We’d be more than happy to discuss upgrades to your lawn.

•    Fall Festive Color makes a lawn statement.  All the vibrant flowers like Marigolds, Petunias, and Pansies are a few to mention, which add a nice accent to your lawn.  Mulch is also a nice way to add a simple clean touch.  Have a vision for your fall & winter lawn but are unsure as to how this can be applied? Advance Landscape Designs has years of experience in seasonal planting and we’re ready to help you.

•    Assure that you’re watering your lawn consistently. Affirm if you have any current water restrictions and abide by them. We recommend watering early morning, during the cooler temperatures (not allowing the water to evaporate quickly). Remember to not water too much as this can as well have a negative effect. We recommend ½ inch of water for each watering session.

•    Have an irrigation system? Need help setting it up? Let Advance Landscape Designs assist you in adjusting your system correctly and inspecting any current issues that it may be subject to. Interested in knowing how an irrigation system can help your lawn? Call us now at (512)918-8009 to speak to one of our representatives.

•    It is important as well to watch out for any disease on your lawn. Brown patch, root rot, leaf spots and dollar spots are things to look for primarily. There are several alternatives to combat each and every one of these issues and the month of September is a perfect time to apply the methods to resolve these matters. Advance Landscape Designs is here to help. Call our representatives to discuss how we can help your lawn return to its green glory.

•    Fallen tree branches and tree coverage may as well affect parts of your lawn that are lacking growth. Lightly pruning your trees provides more sunlight to your lawn. Our crews are experts in adjusting these exposures and are ready to assist you with any of these trimmings or any other cleanups you might have.

Advance Landscape Designs is dedicated in providing the very best look for your lawn. It is a great pleasure to be able to provide these newsletters full of insightful information in order to assist you in the matter as well. Beyond that, we take great pride in consistently being available to you for all your lawn care needs. Our office and phone lines are open to you – call us at (512)918-800 to speak to one of our representatives regarding upgrades and maintenance of your lawn.
